Strikeforce Squadron (Season One) Episode Nine: Grow On Me

Ray stood with the rest of the team in the sleek, high-tech hangar, his eyes fixed on the massive machines before him. The Strikeforce Mech Jets—each more impressive than the last—lined up in perfect formation, their metallic surfaces gleaming under the harsh fluorescent lights. The roar of a distant engine echoed through the cavernous space, and Ray could feel the vibrations in the air as the machines hummed with energy.

Blaze stood confidently at the front, his arms crossed as he surveyed his team. With a nod, he turned toward the woman standing beside him—Haley. She was small in stature but held herself with an air of command that instantly demanded respect. Her short, cropped hair framed her face, and her sharp blue eyes radiated intelligence and focus.

"Everyone, meet Haley," Blaze said, voice strong and clear. "She's the creator of the Strikeforce Mech Jets. Without her, none of this would be possible."

Haley smiled modestly but didn't offer more than a simple nod. She was all business, the kind of person who could throw herself into the most complex designs and come out with groundbreaking results.

Ray's gaze shifted to the row of jets. They were beautiful—sleek, angular, and powered with cutting-edge technology. But what struck him most was the unmistakable aura of strength they radiated, each one a masterpiece of both engineering and warfare.

Blaze continued, his tone growing more serious. "Each of you will be piloting one of these. We've selected the best jets for your abilities. Ray—" He gestured toward the jet at the far left. It was a deep, fiery red with gold accents. "You'll be in the Red Cardinal. It's built for speed and agility, and I'm sure you'll make it soar."

Ray's heart skipped a beat. The Red Cardinal. It looked fast just standing there, a sleek weapon that looked like it could tear through the skies with devastating precision. He could already imagine himself inside it, pushing it to its limits.

Zeke, standing beside Ray, raised an eyebrow. "What about me?"

Blaze didn't miss a beat. "You, Zeke, will pilot The Blue Jay. It's got unmatched maneuverability, perfect for quick strikes and outmaneuvering enemies. Thought it'd suit you."

Zeke gave a quick grin. "Sounds like my kind of machine."

Blaze pointed toward the next jet, a bright yellow one with sharp edges. "Eve, you'll be in the Canary. It's optimized for both air-to-air and ground combat, with advanced defensive capabilities. You're the best for it."

Eve crossed her arms and nodded, her lips curling into a small smile. "Good. I like a challenge."

Blaze's gaze shifted to Nathan, who was already examining the jet designed for him. It was a sleek black machine, almost ghostly in its appearance, with dark, menacing contours. "Nathan, you're piloting the Raven. It's perfect for stealth, reconnaissance, and surprise strikes."

Nathan smirked. "Sounds like fun. I'll make sure no one sees me coming."

Blaze's eyes finally turned to Karen. The final jet in the lineup was the Flamingo, a stunning pink and orange aircraft with curves that gave it an almost graceful look despite its power. "Karen," Blaze said, "You're in the Flamingo. It's designed for support and heavy artillery, but it's got enough speed to keep up with the rest of the squad."

Karen shot Blaze a playful look. "A flamingo, huh? I can work with that. I've got some flair, after all."

Ray couldn't help but feel a sense of awe wash over him. The team was ready. With the jets at their disposal, they were more than just soldiers; they were a force to be reckoned with. And at the heart of it all, the Phoenix Battle Warrior loomed as the ultimate weapon. When all the jets came together, they would combine into a single, formidable warrior—a powerful, unstoppable machine capable of turning the tide of any battle.

Before Ray could process this, his thoughts were interrupted by the sudden buzz of his phone.

He pulled it out of his pocket, glancing at the screen. His heart sank as he read the text. It was from his mother.

Ray, darling, I hope you're doing well. I was hoping you could join Jovan and me at the opera tonight. I know you've been busy, but it would mean so much to me. Let me know if you can make it. Love, Mom.

Ray sighed, his mind racing. The idea of attending the opera was far from appealing, especially with everything going on with the team and the looming mission. But it was his mother. She always had a way of pulling him into things, even when he didn't have the time or the energy.

"Everything alright?" Blaze asked, noticing the look on Ray's face.

Ray forced a smile and tucked his phone back into his pocket. "Yeah, just... family stuff. I'll figure it out."

Blaze didn't press the matter. Instead, he clapped Ray on the back. "I'll leave you to it then. You'll need some time to get familiar with your jet, anyway. We're not flying yet, but the sooner you get the feel for it, the better."

Ray nodded, eager to test out the Red Cardinal, but his mind was still on the opera. He hadn't seen his mom and Jovan in a while. The performance could offer a brief escape from the tension mounting in the air.

"Thanks, Blaze. I'll get to it."

As Blaze walked away, Ray stood there for a moment longer, staring at the Red Cardinal. It called to him, a promise of power and purpose. But he couldn't shake the nagging feeling that whatever was about to come next, it wouldn't wait for him to make the decision. The squad was counting on him, but so was his family.

With a sigh, Ray resolved to make the most of both worlds—balancing his role as a pilot with the pull of his mother's request. Whatever came next, he would face it head-on, as always.

But for now, it was time to test the Red Cardinal.

The sterile, high-tech labs of Zeks Industries hummed with the steady pulse of machinery, the scent of metal and chemicals hanging thick in the air. The large, cold room was lined with tall glass tanks filled with mysterious glowing substances, each marked with labels in a language few could understand. The soft clinking of equipment and the faint buzz of computers created an eerie atmosphere, one that only amplified the chilling significance of the experiments taking place.

Jovan stood before a gleaming control panel, his fingers hovering over the buttons. His eyes were narrowed, focused on the screens in front of him that displayed countless data points and test results. He was on the verge of something monumental—something dangerous.

"Project Alpha," he muttered to himself. "It's time to see if it works."

The serum in question was an experimental growth accelerator, designed to push the limits of biological evolution. In theory, it would exponentially increase the size and strength of any living creature it was injected into, transforming it into something more powerful, more monstrous. He'd tested it on animals—unfortunate test subjects that now lay dormant in the company's incinerators—but none of them had survived the full transformation. The side effects were always too severe, too unpredictable.

But this time... this time, he was ready to test it on something bigger. Something that could withstand the serum's power.

With a deep breath, Jovan pressed a sequence of buttons. The lights in the lab flickered momentarily before a heavy door opened, revealing the creature within. It was a Nexus Kaiju—a massive, reptilian behemoth captured during a failed containment operation. The creature's scaled body was bound to the floor by thick chains, its large, hollow eyes glowing with a faint, sickly yellow light. The Kaiju's growls echoed through the chamber as it struggled against its restraints, but the chains held firm.

Jovan's lips curled into a grim smile. This would be the perfect test.

"Let's see how you handle it," he muttered, as he pressed a final button that unlocked the chamber.

The door slid open with a low rumble, and Jovan stepped into the adjoining room. Standing there, in the shadows, was the man he'd hired for this experiment—a corrupt FBI agent who had long since sold his morals to the highest bidder. His name was Porter Cole, and he was about to become the catalyst for something far more dangerous than he could ever have imagined.

Cole was tall, broad-shouldered, with a face hardened by years of moral compromise. His dark eyes were filled with a mix of anticipation and desperation as he watched Jovan approach. His posture was stiff, his hands clenched tightly in anticipation of what was to come.

"You sure about this, Jovan?" Cole asked, his voice low and gravelly.

Jovan turned to face him, his expression cold. "It's the only way. You've been... less than useful to the Bureau. And you've made some very... questionable decisions. But here, you're going to be something more. Something powerful."

Cole's eyes flickered with a brief moment of doubt, but he quickly pushed it aside. "Just tell me what I need to do."

Jovan motioned toward the Kaiju's containment area, where a vial of glowing, green serum stood on a pedestal. The liquid inside shimmered like liquid emerald. "You'll be injected with the serum. It'll enhance your body's capabilities. The Nexus Kaiju will serve as the foundation for the transformation. The serum will amplify your strength, speed, and... adaptability."

Cole hesitated for a moment before looking at Jovan. "You're saying I'll become that thing?" He pointed toward the Kaiju. "You're sure this will work?"

Jovan's lips twisted into a smirk. "You'll become something far worse."

Without another word, Jovan gestured for the assistants standing by to bring Cole forward. One of them opened a steel cabinet, revealing a syringe, the needle glinting ominously in the dim light.

The assistant approached and, without ceremony, injected the serum into Cole's arm. He winced, but didn't flinch. The serum spread through his bloodstream in mere seconds, the effects instantaneous. Cole's muscles tensed and expanded, his veins bulging as his body began to mutate. His skin started to ripple as if something was trying to break free beneath it.

The transformation was violent. Bones cracked and reshaped as Cole's spine lengthened. His features began to distort—his jawline extended, his face contorted into something grotesque. A large, scaled, reptilian head began to form from the top of his skull, and his eyes shifted to a sickly yellow.

Within moments, he was no longer human.

He was something far more terrifying.

The transformation was complete.

The man who had once been Porter Cole now stood before them, no longer a man but a Nexus Kaiju hybrid. His new form was monstrous, a grotesque fusion of human and reptilian features. His arms were elongated, ending in claws, and his back was covered in spiny ridges that glowed faintly in the dim light. His face had twisted into a snout-like shape, with sharp, jagged teeth lining his mouth. A long, slithering tongue flickered out as he took in the room around him.

"Impressive," Jovan said, his voice betraying the smallest hint of admiration. "You've become Snake Face—a creature of unparalleled strength."

Snake Face—no longer Cole—snarled, his mouth dripping with saliva as he lunged toward the Kaiju in the next containment area. The beast, still chained to the floor, roared in fury at the sight of the mutated man. But Snake Face was faster, more agile. He was no longer a man. He was a predator.

With a single swipe, Snake Face tore through the Kaiju's restraints, his claws sinking into the thick metal as though it were paper. The room filled with the deafening sound of crashing metal and the guttural roars of the creatures as they fought.

Jovan stood back, watching with a calculating gaze. This was just the beginning. With Snake Face under his control, the possibilities were endless. He had created a weapon—a hybrid of human cunning and Kaiju brute force.

Zeks Industries would have a new asset. One that would strike fear into the hearts of anyone who dared oppose them.

And Jovan? He would be unstoppable.

Meanwhile, at the opera house, Ray sat uncomfortably beside his mother, the grand, ornate theater stretching out in front of them. The velvet seats, gilded balconies, and shimmering chandeliers only added to the weight of the evening. Ray's thoughts were elsewhere, though. The Red Cardinal was calling to him, a new sense of purpose fueling his every thought.

His mother, sitting beside him, whispered sweetly in his ear, "Ray, darling, this is the perfect way to relax. I'm so glad you could join us."

Ray gave her a half-hearted smile. "I'm glad you invited me, Mom."

His mind wandered again, and it wasn't long before he overheard a voice that made his blood run cold. It was Jovan, his mother's longtime associate, leaning casually at the bar just across the lobby, talking with a few of his underlings. Ray's curiosity got the better of him. He listened carefully, and what he heard made his stomach tighten.

"Project Alpha is nearly ready," Jovan was saying, his voice low. "I've seen its power firsthand. The serum has already transformed a test subject into a Nexus Kaiju hybrid. It's stronger, faster, and more intelligent than any creature we've encountered."

Ray's heart pounded in his chest. He knew what Project Alpha was—it was a bio-engineering experiment, something Jovan had hinted at before. But now hearing this... it felt like a warning. A terrible, undeniable sign of what was to come.

Before he could think further, the opera hall suddenly erupted into chaos. Glass shattered. Screams filled the air.

Ray spun around, his senses on high alert. From the back of the hall, a figure—massive and terrifying—slithered forward, his elongated limbs crashing through the walls as he advanced. It was Snake Face, Jovan's monstrous creation, now fully awakened and hungry for destruction.

Ray's instincts kicked in. The Phoenix team needed him.

The world around him blurred as his body morphed, the suit he wore activating with a pulse of energy. His chest armor shifted into place, his limbs elongated with mechanical precision, and the red visor of the Red Cardinal's helmet enveloped his face. He was ready to fight.

In an instant, the Strikeforce Saber materialized in his hand, its shimmering blade reflecting the dim light of the opera house. With a roar, he charged forward, his battle cry drowned out by the chaos.

Snake Face roared in response, his massive jaws snapping shut just inches from Ray's helmet. He swung a clawed arm at the smaller warrior, but Ray dodged with an acrobatic flip, his saber slicing through the air. Sparks flew as it collided with the Kaiju's thick scales, but Snake Face wasn't phased. He lunged again, faster this time.

Ray's heart raced as he parried and blocked, his movements fluid and precise. With every strike, the weight of his task pressed heavier on him. This wasn't just a monster; it was a human—someone Jovan had twisted into this beast. Ray's eyes narrowed beneath his helmet. He wasn't about to let Jovan win.

The opera hall crumbled around them as Snake Face rampaged, destroying anything in his path. Just as Ray prepared for another strike, a voice crackled through his earpiece.

"Ray, we're on our way," Nathan's voice rang out. "Hold on, we've got your back!"

At the bowling alley, Nathan, Karen, and Eve had just received Blaze's alert. Without hesitation, they powered up their suits and rushed to their vehicles. As they sped toward the opera house, Blaze's calm voice came through again.

"Ray needs help. We can't let Snake Face destroy the city."

Nathan gripped the wheel tighter. "We're almost there."

Back inside the opera house, Ray's energy was beginning to fade. Snake Face was growing stronger with each passing moment, his size and fury increasing exponentially. And then, just as Ray braced himself for the next attack, the ground trembled.

A massive roar echoed through the theater as a powerful, mechanical blast shot through the sky. Zeke, in his Blue Jay Mech Jet, soared into view, diving low over the opera house. With a mighty roar, he fired a barrage of high-powered missiles into the sky, creating a massive explosion that rocked Snake Face off balance.

The Kaiju screeched in pain and fury, momentarily distracted. Zeke pulled up and soared over the building, firing precision lasers to keep the creature off balance while giving Ray the opening he needed. With renewed strength, Ray charged forward, unleashing a series of powerful strikes with his Strikeforce Saber. The battle was far from over, but now, with Zeke's support, they had a fighting chance.

Together, the squadron would bring down Snake Face—before the Kaiju could tear the opera house apart.

As the battle between Ray and Snake Face raged on, the opera house continued to shake under the Kaiju's rampage. Glass shattered, pillars crumbled, and the very foundation of the grand building trembled under the force of the creature's strikes. Ray was struggling to keep up with Snake Face's relentless assault. His Saber clashed against the creature's scales, but each blow was met with fierce resistance. He needed more than just his strength.

He needed his team.

Ray's heart beat faster as he activated the comms in his helmet. "Blaze, I need backup. Now."

Blaze's voice rang through his earpiece. "We're on our way, Ray. But you need to buy us time. Zeke is already creating a distraction, but you need to give us the signal."

Ray's eyes narrowed beneath his visor as he sized up Snake Face. The Kaiju's movements were erratic, almost animalistic, but there was an intelligence behind them, a deadly cunning. Ray's grip tightened on his Strikeforce Saber. He wasn't just fighting a monster. He was fighting a man—someone twisted into this thing by Jovan's greed and ambition.

But there was no time for hesitation. He needed to end this before Snake Face could destroy everything around them.

"Alright," Ray muttered to himself, "it's time."

He reached out with his mind, focusing on the bond he shared with the Strikeforce Mech Jets. As if responding to his will, the sleek, powerful jets began to appear overhead, cutting through the night sky like a streak of lightning. First, the Red Cardinal, its crimson wings gleaming under the moonlight. Next came The Blue Jay, its azure wings cutting through the air with precision. The Canary followed close behind, a brilliant yellow beacon of light. The Raven, sleek and dark, dove in beside them. Finally, the Flamingo soared into view, its striking pink wings flapping in perfect sync with the others.

The jets were ready.

Ray's voice rang out, commanding and clear. "It's time, guys. Let's form the Phoenix!"

Nathan, Eve, and Karen responded in unison, their voices crackling through the comms, "Right!"

With a surge of energy, the Mech Jets performed a synchronized maneuver, their powerful engines roaring as they aligned into formation, wings extending and interlocking with precision. Ray's heart raced as he guided the Red Cardinal into position, feeling the familiar hum of the combined power of the Mech Jets.

The jets began to merge together, their forms shifting and merging into one seamless entity—a towering, majestic figure that stood at the center of the opera house's wreckage. The Phoenix Battle Warrior had been formed.

The Phoenix's fiery red wings spread wide, each one tipped with a glowing, deadly power. Its eyes blazed with energy, glowing bright yellow as the merged jets powered up, ready for battle. Ray, now fully inside the Phoenix's cockpit, gripped the controls tightly, feeling the pulse of the machine beneath him. This was the moment he had trained for—the moment he had dreamed about.

Blaze's voice came through the comms, steady and authoritative. "Ray, you have the power of the Phoenix now. Take him down. All of you, together."

Ray nodded as he took a deep breath. He could feel the power of the other Mech pilots as they synced their movements with his. It was an unspoken bond, a connection forged in the heat of battle. They were no longer just individual pilots. They were a single force, united in purpose.

Ray's fingers moved across the Phoenix's controls, and with a single command, the Phoenix Battle Warrior surged forward. The massive figure of Snake Face turned just in time to see the Phoenix's massive wings slash through the air, unleashing a torrent of energy that sent shockwaves through the opera house.

The Phoenix Battle Warrior's Strikeforce Beam fired from its chest, a concentrated pulse of pure power that slammed into Snake Face, sending the Kaiju reeling backward. Snake Face screeched, its enormous form stumbling from the impact, but it wasn't enough to stop it. It had grown too powerful, too monstrous, and Ray knew they needed more than just brute force.

He turned to Nathan, Karen, and Eve, their faces visible through their respective Mech Jet cockpits. "Everyone, combine your energy! We have to finish this together."

Nathan, always calm and focused, nodded. "Understood." His fingers danced over the controls of the Raven, directing the jet into a coordinated attack with the others. Eve and Karen followed suit, their Mech Jets moving as one with theirs, their synchronized efforts forming a flawless attack pattern.

The Phoenix Battle Warrior's arms raised high, its fingers glowing with concentrated energy. The jets surrounding Ray's unit began to charge energy, the Phoenix absorbing the power. With a flash, they released it all in a devastating blast—the Phoenix Strike. The energy shot forward, swirling like a comet, and slammed into Snake Face with overwhelming force.

The Kaiju screamed in agony as the Phoenix Strike tore through its body, energy crackling across its monstrous frame. The massive creature tried to fight back, swiping at the Phoenix with its claws, but it was no use. The Phoenix Battle Warrior was too strong.

Snake Face staggered back, smoke billowing from the gaping wounds where the Phoenix Strike had torn through. The Kaiju's form began to break apart, its monstrous body disintegrating from the sheer force of the attack. With one final roar, Snake Face collapsed, its body crumbling to the ground in a heap of twisted metal and burnt flesh.

The opera house, once under siege, was finally safe. Ray and the rest of the team stood victorious, but it wasn't over yet. The battle had been intense, and the damage was extensive, but they had saved countless lives. The Phoenix Battle Warrior stood tall among the wreckage, a symbol of their strength, teamwork, and determination.

Ray's voice crackled through the comms, his tone breathless but filled with triumph. "We did it. We actually did it."

Nathan, Eve, and Karen echoed the sentiment, each of them filled with a mix of pride and relief. "We're a team," Karen said, her voice filled with emotion. "Nothing can stop us."

Zeke's voice came through, his Mech Jet hovering overhead. "You did great, Ray. All of you. Now let's get out of here before the whole city collapses on us."

Ray smiled, his heart still pounding in his chest as the Phoenix's wings folded back. "Let's go. This city's not going to save itself."

With the battle over, the team reformed, ready to face whatever new challenges Jovan and his Project Alpha would throw at them. The Phoenix had risen, and with it, the hope that they could stop the chaos before it consumed everything.

But they knew one thing for sure: the fight had only just begun.

As the final remnants of Snake Face crumbled to the ground, Ray took a deep breath, his heart still pounding from the intense battle. The Phoenix Battle Warrior's massive form began to power down, the glowing lights of its body dimming as the jets that had combined to form it separated and returned to their individual states. The once-gleaming Red Cardinal was now a silent, lifeless machine hovering gently in the air.

Ray's fingers moved slowly across the control panel, disengaging the systems. The cockpit shifted back to its original form, and the mechanical armor of the Phoenix dissipated, leaving only the cockpit of the Red Cardinal. As the last of the energy drained from the suit, Ray leaned back in his seat, exhausted but relieved. They had won.

For now.

The comms in his helmet were filled with the voices of his teammates, each one expressing their relief and excitement. Even Zeke's usual calm tone was tinged with admiration.

"You guys were amazing out there. Phoenix's power was off the charts," Zeke remarked.

Nathan's voice followed, his words laced with pride, "Couldn't have done it without each other. You led us well, Ray."

Ray smiled faintly but said nothing. Instead, he focused on the task at hand. As the adrenaline faded, his thoughts returned to Jovan—and to the unsettling conversation he had overheard earlier. The more he thought about it, the more the pieces of the puzzle didn't fit. Jovan's involvement in Project Alpha, his mysterious experiments, and now, the creation of Snake Face—all of it painted a picture of someone far more dangerous than Ray had originally thought.

And then there was his mother.

Marian had always been kind to him, but her relationship with Jovan was something Ray had never fully understood. She was deeply in love with him, that much was clear, but what Ray had overheard made him wonder: was she just blind to the man he truly was, or was there something more sinister at play here?

Ray powered down the last of the systems and took one final glance at the remains of Snake Face, now lying motionless at the center of the opera house. The city would rebuild, the people would move on, but Ray knew that the darkness was far from gone.

As the Mech Jet's cockpit opened, Ray slowly unbuckled himself and climbed out, his muscles sore from the battle. He stood at the edge of the wreckage, watching the last few flames flicker out, his mind heavy with the weight of his suspicions.

The hum of approaching cars reached his ears. He turned to see Marian and Jovan arriving at the scene, stepping out of a sleek black car. Marian's eyes lit up when she saw him, relief washing over her face. Jovan followed closely behind, his ever-present smirk on his lips, though it didn't quite reach his eyes.

"Ray," Marian said, rushing over to him. "I was so worried. Are you okay?"

Ray forced a smile, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "I'm fine, Mom. We're all fine. Just... doing what we had to do."

Jovan stepped forward, his gaze flicking from Ray to the destruction around them, his expression cool and calculating. "Impressive work, Ray," he said, his tone almost too smooth. "But I imagine you're not here for compliments. You've got your own plans, don't you?"

Ray's eyes narrowed. There it was again—his instincts were telling him something wasn't right. The way Jovan spoke, so casual, so detached, despite the chaos that had just unfolded. He didn't just create Snake Face; he had been involved in everything, all of it.

"I'm just making sure everything's alright," Ray said quietly, his voice steady but filled with an underlying tension. "But I'll be keeping a close eye on you, Jovan. For my mom's sake... and for mine."

Jovan raised an eyebrow, his smile widening ever so slightly. "I'm sure you will, Ray. I'm sure you will."

Ray's gaze lingered on Jovan for a moment longer before turning to his mother. Marian placed a gentle hand on his arm, her eyes filled with concern.

"I just don't want anything to happen to you, Ray. I'm proud of you, but you don't have to do this alone," she said softly.

Ray swallowed, the weight of her words settling deep in his chest. He wanted to tell her that everything was fine, that he was doing what was right. But deep down, he knew the truth: he couldn't let his guard down. Not now. Not with Jovan so deeply entwined in all of this.

"I know, Mom," he said, his voice steady. "But I have to. There's something off about Jovan, and I need to make sure I'm ready for whatever's coming."

As he said the words, Ray couldn't shake the feeling that the storm was only beginning. He had fought a battle tonight, but the real fight was far from over.

And as Jovan watched him from a distance, a knowing look in his eyes, Ray couldn't help but feel that his every move was being watched. Like a predator waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Ray took one last glance at the chaos around him, then turned to walk away, knowing that his battle had only just begun. He would keep his eyes on Jovan, on his mother's boyfriend, and on the shadows that seemed to grow ever closer.

This just was just starting—and Ray was ready.

THE RISE OF THE MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS

MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS

This Lesson is on one of my fav All time favorite Tag Teams in Wrestling . Literally the first time I saw these guys they were amazing. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are an amazing team and also amazing singles wrestlers on their own.

In the heart of Detroit, Michigan, a city known for its grit, engines, and revolution, two young wrestlers were carving out their legacies. Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley were never meant to blend in. From the start, they moved differently, thought differently, and—when they finally joined forces—they changed professional wrestling forever.

It was 2006, and TNA Wrestling was becoming the home of wrestling’s fastest, most daring stars. That’s when Sabin and Shelley—already admired as singles competitors—clicked in a way few teams ever had. They weren’t just another thrown-together duo. They were brothers in the fight, perfectly synchronized, blending high-flying risks with technical precision. They became the Motor City Machine Guns, and the name alone made fans perk up. You could feel the engine revving when they entered the arena.

They weren’t handed anything. They fought wars—especially against the brutal veterans, Team 3D (The Dudley Boyz). That feud wasn't just storyline—it was a test. Could the new school really take on the old guard? When MCMG beat Team 3D in a chaotic Street Fight at Against All Odds, they didn’t just win a match—they earned respect.

But respect wasn’t enough. Championships were still out of reach. Sabin and Shelley fought with a chip on their shoulders, always a step away from the gold. That changed in 2010, when they entered a now-legendary feud with Beer Money, Inc. Their series of matches became instant classics, showcasing what tag team wrestling could truly be. And finally, at Victory Road, they captured the TNA World Tag Team Championship—a moment that felt like destiny fulfilled.

They weren’t done pushing boundaries. They headed to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where they introduced their hybrid American-Japanese style to new audiences and won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Titles, proving their excellence crossed oceans.

But even legends face detours. In 2012, Shelley left TNA. The team disbanded. Sabin soldiered on, even winning the TNA World Championship, but the magic of MCMG felt like it had vanished into the past.

Then, like the roar of a rebuilt muscle car, they returned in 2016—this time in Ring of Honor. Their chemistry hadn’t faded. They captured the ROH World Tag Team Titles, adding another notch to their tag team résumé. But in 2018, Shelley quietly stepped away from wrestling, and the Guns were parked once again.

Until 2020.

Amid the uncertainty of a pandemic, Slammiversary brought surprises—and none louder than the return of MCMG to IMPACT Wrestling. They hit the ring like they’d never left, instantly winning the Impact Tag Team Titles again. Older, wiser, sharper.

And then came the move no one expected…

In 2024, the Motor City Machine Guns arrived in WWE. Not as rookies. Not as reinventions. As themselves—legends of the game. They debuted on SmackDown, and within months, did what no team before them ever had: they won the WWE Tag Team Championship, becoming the first team in history to hold major tag titles in TNA, NJPW, ROH, and WWE.

They were no longer the underdogs. They were the standard.

As singles Competitors they have won the TNA HW Championship.

MegaMan Battle Network Warrior (Season One) Episode 9: Hooked On Time

The moon hung high in the sky, casting a silver sheen over the city. Chris stood in the shadow of an alleyway, watching as Noah, unaware of his presence, moved swiftly down the dark street. The mission was one that Chris hadn’t planned for, but his instincts told him it was crucial. Dr. Light had sent Noah on an assignment with specific instructions, but Chris wasn’t one to simply trust the circumstances at face value. His suspicion had grown, and tonight, he would find out exactly what Noah was up to.

The soft echo of Noah’s footsteps reverberated off the concrete, his silhouette barely visible in the dim light of the street lamps. Chris adjusted his jacket, keeping a safe distance. He couldn’t afford to make any noise or reveal his presence—not yet. The secrecy of the mission was at the core of Dr. Light’s request, and Chris had no intention of betraying that trust, not until he knew the truth.

Noah turned a corner and disappeared from Chris’s sight. Without hesitation, Chris moved forward, his eyes scanning the area. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but his instincts screamed that something dangerous was afoot.

He kept close to the shadows as Noah led him further into the industrial district, a part of the city that had been abandoned for years. Chris had heard rumors about this place—the old warehouse district that housed more than just rotting machines and empty boxes. He had heard whispers of the VGX. The name alone sent a shiver down his spine. The extremist group had one goal: the eradication of Net Warriors and their gamer who kept the peace in a world increasingly divided by technology.

Chris’s pulse quickened. VGX. If they were involved, it meant things were worse than he thought. But why was Noah here?

Noah slowed his pace as they approached an old, crumbling warehouse at the end of the block. The building looked abandoned at first glance, but Chris could see the faint flicker of light from inside, the quiet hum of activity hidden behind the rusted metal doors. Noah paused briefly before entering the warehouse, casting a quick glance around as though checking for anyone following him. But Chris had already found a position behind a stack of crates, hidden from view. He watched as Noah stepped through the door, disappearing into the shadows beyond.

Chris waited for a moment, then moved silently toward the entrance. The cold steel of the warehouse door felt solid beneath his hand as he gently pushed it open, just enough to squeeze through without making a sound. He slipped inside, his breath held tight in his chest.

The interior of the warehouse was massive—an endless expanse of darkness broken only by the harsh light coming from a few overhead lamps. In the distance, Chris could make out the figures of several people gathered in a tight circle. As his eyes adjusted, he recognized Noah standing among them, talking with a group of individuals cloaked in shadows.

Their voices were low, but Chris could still hear the intensity in their conversation. He edged closer, his footsteps muffled against the concrete floor, careful not to draw attention.

"Do you have the codes?" a rough voice asked, its tone full of menace.

Noah nodded. "They’re encrypted, but I’ve already set the plan in motion. The Net Warriors won’t know what hit them."

The man in front of Noah grinned, his teeth white against the darkness. "Good. It’s time to end this, once and for all."

Chris’s heart raced as the conversation continued. Noah had been working with the VGX, collaborating with the very extremists Dr. Light had warned him about. The codes Noah spoke of—encrypted access to the world’s Net Warriors—meant that the VGX were planning a coordinated attack, one that could destabilize the global defense network.

He had to act, but there was no telling how many more of them were in the warehouse. Moving too quickly could expose him.

As he crouched low behind a pile of crates, a wave of realization hit him. He wasn’t just following Noah anymore. He was caught in a web of lies, and now he had to decide whether to confront Noah and risk everything—or gather the information he needed to expose the truth. But time was running out. The VGX’s plans were already in motion, and Chris needed to figure out how to stop them before it was too late.

The room was dark, lit only by the dim glow of a crystal orb suspended in mid-air, its surface swirling with blue smoke. The chamber, hidden deep within the shadowed corridors of the Enchanted Castle, was quiet except for the hushed whispers of the Disney Villains who stood gathered around the orb. The Council of Villains, notorious for their unyielding thirst for power and their cunning strategies, had long been silent in their dealings, but recent whispers from the shadows had caught their attention.

A sudden ripple disrupted the stillness in the orb, and Maleficent, standing at the head of the council table, narrowed her eyes. The swirling mist inside the crystal shifted as the faces of the Villains who had gathered to hear the news turned to watch in quiet anticipation. A looming presence appeared within the orb—a dark figure, a shadow who had heard the call from the Enchanted Castle.

“It seems... there’s trouble,” said The Queen of Hearts, her voice dripping with venom. "An uprising of sorts, but it’s not in our realm. Not in our world."

“I thought we had all the chaos we needed here,” said Jafar, his fiery eyes glinting as he leaned back in his seat. "What do you think, Maleficent? Should we let them destroy themselves?"

Maleficent’s sharp, calculating gaze moved over the figures in the orb, her lips curling into a faint smile. "This is no ordinary conflict," she said. "The VGX extremists... they are a threat to the very balance of this world. A group that seeks to rid the world of those we have used, and may still use, for our own ends. They must be stopped."

A murmur of agreement swept through the council. But it wasn’t until a voice, familiar to many, echoed through the room that the air seemed to shift.

“If the VGX want to play with fire, then I’ll make sure they feel the burn.”

The voice belonged to none other than Captain Hook. Colin O’Donoghue’s portrayal of the infamous pirate rang out clearly, the words filled with the bitterness of revenge and the thrill of the hunt. His face appeared in the orb, his gaze fierce, and his signature hook glimmering in the dim light. The pirate captain had heard the call, and he was eager to make his mark on this new world.

"You wish to send me, then?" Captain Hook asked, his voice thick with the promise of a challenge. “I have no qualms about dealing with these insects in your name, Maleficent. But I’ll do it on my terms."

Maleficent smirked, her voice filled with calculated amusement. "Of course, Captain. You are the perfect candidate. You’re no stranger to pursuing your enemies with ruthless precision."

A shadow passed over Hook’s face, his gaze darkening. He had known enemies who had underestimated him in the past, and the result had always been the same—his revenge was swift and unforgiving. “They will regret underestimating me. I will make sure they do.”

His fingers flexed around the hilt of his sword, the glint of metal sharp and dangerous. "I’ll take care of the VGX. But in return, I expect... my own terms to be met when the time comes."

Maleficent nodded, her dark eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "Your request will be granted, Captain. Do not fail us."

The orb flickered again, and Captain Hook’s figure faded from view, the swirling mists of the crystal clearing.

"He's the one we need," said Jafar, his lips curling into a grin. "The world won’t know what hit it once he sets foot there."

Ursula let out a low chuckle. "Let’s see how the VGX reacts to an old pirate with a vendetta."

Maleficent, with a final sweep of her cloak, turned to face the council once more. "The VGX may be dangerous, but they are nothing compared to the wrath of Captain Hook. Let him loose, and the tides will shift in our favor."

Back in the real world, beneath a dark sky littered with stars, Captain Hook stepped through the portal, his boots hitting the cold concrete with a resounding thud. The wind whistled around him, the streets eerily quiet in the late hours of the night. He surveyed the urban landscape, taking in the unfamiliarity of it all. The air here was thick with tension, the city alive in ways that felt strange, yet invigorating.

He adjusted his coat, the swish of fabric barely noticeable over the soft hum of the city. His eyes gleamed with a dangerous excitement. This world was far different from Neverland, but it was filled with challenges—challenges he could make his own.

“They don’t know who they’re dealing with,” Hook muttered to himself as he drew his hook and twirled it expertly in his hand. "Let’s see if the VGX are ready for the Captain."

With one last glance toward the skyline, Hook set off, determined to track down the VGX and deal with them the only way he knew how—with a deadly mix of charm, cunning, and violence. He would stop them, but he would make sure they remembered him.

The game was on, and Captain Hook was in it to win.

The sterile hum of machines filled the lab, the only sound that seemed to break the silence as Roberto adjusted a series of monitors on one of the workstations. The lab was a maze of technology—wires snaking across countertops, blinking lights illuminating a jungle of high-tech equipment. It was a place of constant motion and innovation, a world driven by calculations and logic. But today, the usual rhythm of the lab seemed… off.

Roberto glanced over at Dr. Light, who stood across the room, his back slightly hunched. The older man had been silent for some time, an unusual quiet that Roberto couldn’t ignore. His brow furrowed in concentration as he observed Dr. Light’s movements. Something was wrong—he could feel it in the air. The doctor had always been meticulous, always in control, but now, for the first time, he seemed almost fragile.

Dr. Light, normally a pillar of energy and precision, suddenly froze. His hand shot up to his chest, a pained expression crossing his face. Roberto’s heart skipped a beat.

"Dr. Light?" Roberto called, hurrying toward the doctor, his voice laced with concern.

The doctor’s face paled, and he staggered slightly before catching himself on the edge of a nearby table. His breathing had become shallow, ragged, and his eyes were wide, searching for something to hold on to. Roberto's mind raced. Was it a heart attack? He had no idea that the doctor had any history of heart problems, but the symptoms were unmistakable.

"Dr. Light… what’s happening?" Roberto's voice was urgent now, his hands hovering over the doctor, unsure whether to offer assistance or not.

Dr. Light’s lips trembled as he tried to respond, but the words caught in his throat. He grimaced, his hand gripping the fabric of his lab coat as though trying to steady himself.

"I… I’m fine," Dr. Light managed to say, but his voice was shaky, weak. The words didn’t sound convincing, and Roberto didn’t buy them for a second.

The older man took a step back, but his legs buckled beneath him, and he collapsed to his knees. Roberto lunged forward, catching Dr. Light by the shoulder to steady him. His pulse raced as he assessed the situation, his mind a blur. Was this some side effect of his experiments? Had the serum or the pressure of the recent events taken its toll?

"Dr. Light, please," Roberto urged, panic creeping into his tone as he knelt beside him. "Let me help you."

The doctor’s face was drawn, a deep flush of red spreading across his features despite the pallor. His chest heaved with each labored breath, and his eyes were starting to lose their focus. The strength in his grip began to fade, and Roberto could feel the weight of the doctor’s frailty settle over him.

"I—" Dr. Light began, his voice barely a whisper now. "I’ve been feeling it for some time, Roberto… the strain… but I didn’t think it would happen this soon."

Roberto’s heart sank. He had always seen Dr. Light as a genius, an indomitable force of intellect and willpower. The doctor’s brilliance had shaped the very foundation of their work, and to see him in such a weakened state was a blow to everything Roberto had known. He had never once considered that the very man who had created Project X, who had stood as the cornerstone of their research, could be on the brink of collapse.

The doctor’s hands trembled as he tried to push himself up, but his body betrayed him. Roberto could feel the weight of his mentor’s body, the shaking and the sense of panic that had begun to seep into his own chest.

"Please, Dr. Light, talk to me," Roberto said, his voice breaking as he helped the doctor back into a chair. "What’s happening? We need to get you help."

Dr. Light closed his eyes, his breath slowing slightly, but his body still trembled. "It’s... it’s nothing new, Roberto. Just the strain of years of work... the constant pressure. It takes its toll on the body, even if the mind can keep up." He paused, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips, though it lacked any real humor. "I always thought I’d be the one to collapse from the weight of this project, but I never imagined it would come to this…"

Roberto’s mind whirled as the gravity of the situation settled in. Could the doctor’s deteriorating health have something to do with his work on new armor, on Project X? Had the serum they had developed, the experiments they’d run, somehow contributed to this?

"We need to get you checked," Roberto insisted, placing a hand on the doctor’s arm. "This could be serious."

Dr. Light’s eyes fluttered open, and he gave a weak shake of his head. "No. Not yet. I need to finish this, Roberto. I need to finish it all... before it’s too late."

Roberto clenched his jaw, trying to suppress the fear rising in his chest. He knew what this meant—the doctor was not just suffering from a physical ailment, but also from the pressure of his own obsession. The weight of their mission, of everything they had sacrificed, had taken its toll. But could they afford to stop now? The project, the serum, the armor—they were all interconnected. Stopping wasn’t an option, not now.

"Just hold on, Dr. Light," Roberto said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside. "We’ll figure this out. You don’t have to carry it all alone."

But even as he said the words, Roberto couldn’t shake the feeling that something more insidious was at play. What if Dr. Light wasn’t just dealing with physical exhaustion? What if this—this moment of weakness—was something far worse, something that could unravel everything they had worked for?

As Roberto helped the doctor recline in the chair, the soft beeping of a nearby monitor seemed to pulse in sync with his racing heart. Whatever lay ahead, Roberto knew one thing: time was running out.

The air inside the warehouse was thick with tension, the faint glow of overhead lights casting long, eerie shadows across the worn concrete floor. Chris crouched behind a stack of crates, his breath shallow as he scanned the room. The heavy footsteps of a VGX soldier echoed through the space, getting closer and closer. Chris tensed, gripping his gear tightly, his senses heightened as his mind raced.

This is it, he thought, a grim determination setting in. He had to find out what was really going on in here—and if it meant risking his life, so be it. But first, he had to stay undetected.

Just as he began to move, a figure appeared from behind the crates, the VGX soldier’s cold, calculating eyes locking onto Chris. A grin spread across the man’s face, recognizing Chris as the intruder. Before Chris could react, the soldier lunged, grabbing him by the arm and yanking him into the open.

“Gotcha,” the soldier sneered, pulling a stun baton from his belt. “You shouldn’t have been snooping around, kid.”

Chris, caught off guard, quickly sized up his opponent. With his free arm, he slammed an elbow into the soldier’s side, forcing the man to loosen his grip. Using his momentum, Chris twisted free, landing a quick punch to the soldier’s jaw. The soldier staggered back, but before he could recover, Chris grabbed the stun baton, spinning it out of his grasp and sweeping his legs out from under him.

“Nice try,” Chris muttered, his eyes flashing with defiance. The soldier collapsed to the ground, knocked out cold, and Chris stepped over him, adjusting his stance. “One down, a hundred more to go.”

Before he could catch his breath, a loud crash sounded from the far side of the warehouse, followed by a voice that sent a chill down his spine.

“Well, well, what do we have here?” Captain Hook’s voice echoed through the cavernous room, a dangerous glint in his eyes as he stepped into view. The pirate captain’s coat billowed behind him as he twirled his hook menacingly. “Another meddling hero, I presume. You’re in the wrong place, my friend.”

Chris froze for a moment, taking in the sight of Captain Hook. The villainous pirate was larger than life, every step an expression of pure confidence, and it was clear that Hook wasn’t here to negotiate. He wasn’t here to talk. He was here for blood.

"Looks like I’ve got a date with destiny,” Chris said, grinning, his voice light despite the rising tension. “Too bad for you, Hook, I don’t plan on going down without a fight."

Captain Hook gave a dramatic, mocking laugh, his hook raised high as he prepared for the attack. "You think you can defeat me? I am Captain Hook, and you are merely a fly caught in my web!"

Chris smirked, activating his fusion gear. His body briefly shimmered with energy as he cross-fused with Megaman, his form morphing, the sleek blue armor covering his body and transforming him into a powerful warrior. The air around him crackled with energy as he aimed his arm forward, the iconic blue buster gun materializing in place of his hand.

"Say hello to my little friend," Chris quipped as he took aim at Hook.

But before he could fire, a loud crash interrupted the tension—a VGX soldier charged at Noah from the opposite side of the room, catching him off guard. Noah stumbled back, but his reflexes kicked in. With a well-placed strike, he countered the soldier's attack, sending the VGX member crashing into a stack of metal barrels. As the soldier lay stunned, Noah rose to his feet and wiped his brow.

"Focus, Noah!" Chris called, his voice cutting through the chaos. He was about to face down a pirate captain who wasn’t going to pull punches.

Captain Hook sneered, twirling his hook in a deadly arc before lunging toward Chris. With a flash of his buster gun, Chris fired a charged shot, narrowly missing Hook as the pirate captain leapt to the side, his hook slicing through the air. The ground cracked where the buster shot hit, sending chunks of concrete flying.

"Is that all you've got?" Hook taunted, his grin never faltering. "You'll have to do better than that!"

Chris darted forward, dodging the pirate’s swipes and taking careful aim with his buster gun again. Hook's agility and ferocity were overwhelming, but Chris wasn’t about to back down.

“Yeah, this is fun and all, but do you have any idea what kind of trouble you're in, Hook?” Chris taunted, firing off another blast, which Hook narrowly avoided. “You’re way out of your league—this is a little more dangerous than swiping gold, don’t you think?”

Captain Hook’s eyes narrowed in annoyance, but before he could retaliate, Noah appeared beside Chris, having dispatched the VGX soldier with a swift punch.

“Need some help?” Noah asked, cracking his knuckles with a grin.

“Could use a hand,” Chris replied, shifting his stance as Hook prepared to attack again. Together, they made a synchronized move to corner the pirate, but Hook wasn’t done yet.

With a guttural roar, Captain Hook swung his hook wide, catching both Chris and Noah off guard as he sent them sprawling backward. The ground beneath them trembled as Hook landed a brutal strike with his hook, forcing Chris to roll out of the way just in time.

“That all you’ve got, pirate?” Chris growled, barely managing to dodge the deadly swing.

“I could say the same about you!” Hook retorted, spinning around for another attack.

In the chaos, Chris saw his opening. He quickly recalibrated his buster gun, charging up a devastating shot. Hook, too consumed with his own attack, was too slow to react.

"Ready for your ticket to Davy Jones' locker, Hook?" Chris quipped with a grin.

Just as Chris aimed his charged shot at Hook, the unexpected happened—a sudden burst of energy shot from the shadows, striking Captain Hook directly in the back. The blast sent the pirate captain tumbling to the ground, his hook clanging on the concrete. Hook’s body flickered, his form glitching and distorting as the energy took hold.

“What the—” Chris exclaimed, his eyes widening in disbelief.

From the shadows emerged another VGX soldier, much larger and more menacing than the rest. He stepped forward, his cold eyes fixed on Chris and Noah.

"Don’t think you can end this so easily," the VGX soldier growled. “You’ll both pay for meddling in our affairs."

Before Chris could react, Hook’s body continued to glitch and flicker, his once imposing presence vanishing as he was deleted by the energy surge. The pirate’s form dissolved into nothingness, leaving only the echoes of his menace behind.

"Well, that was unexpected," Chris muttered, lowering his buster gun.

Noah, still catching his breath, eyed the new VGX soldier with suspicion. "We don’t have time for this. Let’s go, now!"

Chris glanced at Noah, then back at the towering soldier. He could feel the danger, but there was no time to waste. Hook was down, but the real fight was far from over.

With one final glance at the now-vacant spot where Captain Hook had fallen, Chris turned and, with Noah by his side, bolted toward the exit. The VGX soldier growled, stepping forward, but before he could make a move, Chris and Noah vanished into the shadows of the warehouse, escaping just in time.

As the VGX soldier reached the door, he could only watch in frustration as the two heroes disappeared into the night.

"Next time," he muttered under his breath, "next time, you won’t get away."

The Aftermath of the Battle

The sounds of their footsteps echoed through the darkened streets as Chris and Noah made their way down the narrow alley, their backs still pressed against the cold concrete walls of the warehouse. The air was thick with the residue of their chaotic battle—crackling energy, the remnants of explosions, and the echo of Hook's defeat still hanging heavy in the air. But despite their narrow escape, a strange unease settled over Chris. He could feel the adrenaline fading, leaving behind only a lingering confusion that gnawed at him.

He glanced over at Noah, his mind still racing.

“What… just happened?” Chris finally asked, his voice laced with disbelief. His eyes narrowed as he studied Noah for any hint of an answer. “Did that just happen? Did we—did we just take down Captain Hook?”

Noah, still breathing heavily, shrugged nonchalantly, though his eyes betrayed the intensity of what had just gone down. “I guess so,” he said, his voice sounding as calm as ever despite the absurdity of their situation. “We handled him, didn’t we?”

Chris shook his head in confusion, trying to process the whirlwind of events. “Yeah, but… you saw it, right? That new guy—he came out of nowhere. And Hook... He was just deleted like that? What’s going on, Noah? Who was that guy?”

Noah stopped in his tracks for a moment, turning to face Chris. His brow furrowed as he thought it over. “I don’t know, man,” he admitted, rubbing his temples. “We’ve been fighting these VGX guys for a while, but this… this feels different. That soldier—he wasn’t just a normal VGX member. And Hook? The way he went down… it was like some kind of… digital erasure. Something we’ve never seen before.”

Chris’s frown deepened as he tried to make sense of it all. The battle with Hook had been chaotic enough, but this new twist felt like a whole new level of danger. “Yeah… I’m not sure what we’re dealing with anymore.” His eyes flicked back toward the warehouse, as though expecting the shadows to hold some new threat. “That soldier didn’t just fight like any normal enemy. He wasn’t acting like a regular VGX agent. I don’t like it.”

Noah exhaled, a long, slow breath that suggested more uncertainty than he cared to admit. “It’s like… they’ve got some new tech. Something even worse than what we’ve faced before. And I don’t think this is the last we’ll see of that soldier. Whoever he is, he’s going to want us dead.”

Chris rubbed his face with his hand, trying to shake off the feeling of dread settling in. “And Hook… we didn’t even get a chance to finish him off. He was so close to being out of the picture. But that… whatever that energy blast was, it wiped him out in a blink.” He paused, a thought forming in his mind. “What if that soldier was a backup? What if Hook was just a distraction all along?”

Noah’s eyes met his with a heavy silence, the weight of Chris’s words sinking in. He couldn’t deny it—there had been something off about that whole situation. It hadn’t felt like a typical mission. There was something else happening here. Something much bigger.

“We’re not done yet,” Noah said, his voice hardening with resolve. “That soldier, whoever he is, is connected to all of this. We need to find out more. We need to understand what the VGX are really up to. And we need to stop them before this goes any further.”

Chris nodded, his expression tightening with determination. “Right. We can’t let this go. We need answers, Noah. And we’re going to get them—no matter what.”

As the two of them moved deeper into the city’s maze of alleys and hidden paths, the reality of what they had just faced seemed to sink in. Hook, the infamous pirate, had been defeated—but not in the way they had expected. That new soldier, the one who had deleted him with the flick of a switch, was still a looming threat. And the question still lingered in the air: what was happening with the VGX? What were they really after?

Chris’s mind churned with possibilities, his thoughts racing through every connection, every battle they’d faced with the extremists. But something about this felt different. Bigger. As if the stakes had suddenly been raised beyond their comprehension.

As they turned a corner and disappeared into the shadows, the faint hum of the city’s lights felt distant, almost otherworldly. The quiet was deceptive—there was more to come, and Chris knew they would have to face it head-on.

But right now, they had only one thing on their minds: survival.

And answers.

The sterile walls of the lab seemed colder than usual, the once comforting hum of machines now felt like an oppressive reminder of the weight of the day. Dr. Light sat at his desk, his hands trembling as he reached for a small bottle of painkillers. His movements were slow, deliberate, as though each motion required far more effort than it should have. The bottle cap twisted off with a soft click, and he poured the pills into his palm, his brow furrowing as he stared at them for a long moment.

From the far corner of the room, Roberto watched silently. He had been there, observing for the past few minutes, though he knew Dr. Light hadn’t noticed him. The doctor was too lost in his own thoughts, consumed by a pain that no amount of medication seemed to be able to ease completely. Roberto’s hands were clenched at his sides, unsure of how to approach the situation. He could feel the weight of his mentor’s suffering, an invisible barrier that had come to define the atmosphere of the lab.

As Dr. Light took the pills, the room felt smaller, the air heavier. His face contorted slightly in discomfort as he swallowed them, his shoulders slumping in a way that seemed to indicate more than just physical exhaustion. There was something in his eyes—something deeper—that Roberto couldn’t quite place.

Roberto’s gaze flicked to Sonic, who stood just a few feet behind him, arms crossed, watching Dr. Light from the shadows with an intensity that mirrored Roberto’s own. Sonic’s expression was unreadable, but the sharpness in his posture suggested a shared concern.

“Do you think he’s really okay?” Roberto whispered, his voice barely above a breath. The question had been hanging in his mind since he had seen Dr. Light falter earlier. It had only gotten heavier now, as he watched the doctor’s shoulders sag, the weight of his pain settling visibly over him.

Sonic didn’t answer immediately. His eyes remained locked on Dr. Light, observing the man with the same quiet scrutiny. Then, after a long pause, he spoke, his voice low and steady.

“No,” Sonic said bluntly. “He’s not okay. He’s been pushing himself too hard—he’s been holding it all together for far too long. But now… it’s catching up to him.” His words were sharp, cutting through the tension in the air. “And it’s not just his body that’s breaking down. It’s his mind, too.”

Roberto’s eyes narrowed. The frustration he had been feeling all day now found a voice. “What do you mean? Are you saying he’s lost it? He’s still Dr. Light—the genius who built all of this.” He gestured vaguely to the lab, to the workstations, to the very heart of their operations. “

“Who also ignored the toll it would take on him,” Sonic interjected, his voice firm but not unkind. “He’s been pushing for too long, Roberto.

The silence that followed was thick with the unspoken truth of Sonic’s words. Roberto wanted to argue, wanted to hold on to the image of Dr. Light as the untouchable genius. But the truth was undeniable. Dr. Light had always been relentless—pushing forward, no matter the cost. But now, there was a cost, one that could no longer be ignored.

As Dr. Light sat quietly at his desk, the painkillers beginning to take effect, Roberto’s heart sank. He had always admired Dr. Light, had always seen him as a father figure of sorts, someone who had sacrificed everything for the greater good. But now, that sacrifice seemed to be taking its toll in ways he hadn’t fully understood until now.

“I don’t know what to do,” Roberto admitted quietly, his voice tinged with frustration and helplessness. “We need him. We need his genius, his mind. But if he’s falling apart…”

“You’re not the only one who’s worried,” Sonic replied, his tone softer now. He stepped closer to Roberto, his eyes never leaving Dr. Light. “But you can’t save him from himself, Roberto. He’s the only one who can make that choice.”

Roberto let out a heavy sigh, his shoulders sagging in defeat. He wanted to fix this, wanted to find a way to keep Dr. Light from crumbling under the weight of everything he had created. But for now, it seemed there was nothing he could do but watch.

They stood in silence, watching the man who had once seemed invincible slowly succumb to the pressure of his own ambition. Dr. Light’s head dropped forward as he leaned back in his chair, the dull throb of pain starting to recede as the medication took effect. The lab, once a place of innovation and progress, now felt like a tomb of lost potential—a place where the brilliant mind of Dr. Light was slowly being eaten alive by his own creation.

As the shadows in the room stretched longer and longer, Roberto couldn’t shake the feeling that something more sinister was coming—something that neither Dr. Light’s genius nor their combined efforts could stop. The weight of that realization settled on him, heavy and unyielding.

Sonic’s voice broke through the silence, pulling Roberto from his thoughts. “We need to keep moving forward, Roberto. There’s more at stake than just Dr. Light. The world’s depending on us.”

Roberto nodded, his eyes still fixed on Dr. Light, though his mind was already moving on to the next step. The mission, stop the Disney Villains—there was no room for hesitation. But as he turned to leave, a final glance back at Dr. Light was all it took to remind him of the fragility of it all. Even the greatest minds could fall.

And in that moment, Roberto realized just how much was on the line.
