Chris Jericho:The Myth The Legend Y2J

Today I’m introducing you to the Legend the Myth Y2J who in my eyes is a wrestling legend

Early Life and Background:

Chris Jericho was born Christopher Keith Irvine on November 9, 1970, in Manhasset, New York, but he was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. His father, Ted Irvine, was a professional hockey player in the NHL, so athleticism ran in the family. Jericho was inspired by wrestlers like Owen Hart and Bret Hart, which set him on his journey into professional wrestling.

Wrestling Training and Early Career:

Jericho trained at the Hart Brothers School of Wrestling in Calgary, Alberta, and made his professional debut in 1990. Early in his career, he wrestled in smaller promotions like Canadian National Wrestling Alliance and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre in Mexico, where he developed his unique in-ring style, blending technical skill, high-flying moves, and charisma.

Rising Fame – WCW and ECW:

Jericho gained attention in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in the mid-’90s before moving to World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1996. In WCW, he became known for his technical abilities and his entertaining, cocky personality. He had memorable feuds and matches but felt underutilized, which eventually led to his departure.

WWE Debut and Stardom:

Chris Jericho’s WWE debut on August 9, 1999, is one of the most iconic debuts in wrestling history. The “Y2J” countdown clock interrupted The Rock, and Jericho arrived as “The Millennium Man,” immediately establishing himself as a superstar. Over his WWE career, Jericho became a nine-time Intercontinental Champion and a six-time world champion. In 2001, he made history by becoming the first-ever Undisputed WWE Champion by defeating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night.

Reinvention and Longevity:

What sets Jericho apart is his ability to reinvent his character. From his cocky “Y2J” persona to his “Best in the World” gimmick and the hilarious “List of Jericho” phase, he always stayed fresh and relevant. Even in his 50s, his in-ring performances and promo skills remain top-tier.

AEW and Expanding His Legacy:

In 2019, Jericho joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and became its first-ever AEW World Champion. His presence helped give AEW credibility as a serious competitor to WWE. Jericho’s ability to stay on top of the industry even after three decades shows his passion and influence.

Music Career with Fozzy:

Outside wrestling, Jericho is the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Fozzy. The band has released several albums and popular songs like “Judas,” which also became his AEW entrance theme. Jericho’s success in music mirrors his success in wrestling — always evolving and always entertaining.

Pop Culture and Media:

Jericho has also appeared in movies, TV shows, podcasts, and books. His podcast, Talk is Jericho, features interviews with wrestlers, musicians, and pop culture figures. He’s also written multiple autobiographies sharing stories from his life and career.

Influence and Legacy:

Chris Jericho is often regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. His ability to adapt, his dedication to his craft, and his willingness to elevate others have made him a respected figure both in and out of the ring. He’s influenced countless wrestlers and continues to be a major force in the
